JE ME SOUVIENS (I REMEMBER)
Started this summer at Le Lieu de la Photographie, my new collaborative project je me souviens (inspired by the George Perec homonym book ) will go on at the Festival du Regard this fall.
While making my book la promesse, I imagined a visual narrative and sent a series of photos to writers and poets, and they replied with beautiful songs and poems, developing a unique image-text correspondence.
In je me souviens, I switch around roles, I ask viewers of the show la promesse to share intimate memories, anonymously written down and slipped into a box I will open privately at the end of the show, and later on, reply to, with my personal images.
This collective material, cumulated along the shows and locations, will be the starting point of an imaginary words/images correspondence, an intimate plural and fictive photo diary.
JE ME SOUVIENS
Commencé cet été au Lieu de la Photographie, mon nouveau projet collaboratif je me souviens (inspiré du livre homonyme de Georges Perec) se poursuivra cet automne au Festival du Regard.
Lors de la création de mon livre la promesse, j’ai imaginé un récit visuel et envoyé une série de photos à des écrivains et poètes, qui y ont répondu par de magnifiques chansons et poèmes, développant ainsi une correspondance unique entre image et texte.
Dans je me souviens, j’inverse les rôles : je demande aux spectateurs de l’exposition la promesse de partager des souvenirs intimes, anonymement écrits et glissés dans une boîte que j’ouvrirai en privé à la fin de l’exposition, puis auxquels je répondrai plus tard avec mes images personnelles.
Ce matériau collectif, accumulé au fil des expositions et des lieux, deviendra le point de départ d’une correspondance imaginaire entre mots et images, un journal intime photographique pluriel et fictif.
